Orascom Development Holding (ODH) is a leading developer of fully integrated destinations, including hotels, residential units and leisure facilities such as golf courses, marinas and supporting infrastructure. ODH offers a diverse portfolio of worldwide destinations covering Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Morocco, Montenegro, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The group operates a total of 33 hotels with 7,178 rooms and controls approximately 101 million sqm of land.

Samih Sawiris Chairman

Samih Sawiris became CEO of Orascom Development Holding on an interim basis in April 2014, and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors.  In 1996 he established Orascom Projects for Touristic Development and a year later founded Orascom Hotel Holdings.  The two companies eventually merged to form Orascom Development Egypt S.A.E.  Mr Sawiris founded the El Gouna Beverages Company in 1997, which was the largest beverage company in Egypt when sold in 2001.  He started his first company, the National Marine Boat Factory, after receiving a Diploma in Economic Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 1980.

Naguib S. Sawiris Vice Chairman

Naguib Sawiris founded Yup in 2014, and is its CEO.  Yup is a San Francisco-based Education Technology company that provides on-demand personalized learning through mobile chat, with over 500,000 student sign-ups.  Yup has raised USD 7.5 million from leading tech and education investors including Index Ventures, Floodgate Fund and Stanford University's StartX Fund. Mr Sawiris is an active angel investor, having invested in over 20 companies including DoctorOnDemand, Transcriptic, and Womply. His investments have gone on to raise over USD 200 million in subsequent rounds. He studied at Stanford University, where he designed his own major (Economic and Enterprise Engineering).

Franz Egle Member

Franz Egle’s background is in strategic development, corporate communications, media and PR. After holding senior positions in the private sector, he was Head of Communications at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1998. Between 1999 and 2006 Mr Egle was a partner of Hirzel.Neef.Schmid.Konsulenten, a communication and financial consultancy, and is a co-founder of Dynamics Group, a Swiss company providing strategic consulting, communication management and research analysis.  He holds a Doctorate in Sociology from the University of Zurich.

Carolina Müller-Möhl Member

Carolina Müller-Möhl is a Swiss investor, philanthropist and founder of the Müller-Möhl Group, a single-family office which actively manages the family's investments over which she has presided since 2000.  Mrs Müller-Möhl has served on the board of directors of Gebrüder Müller Immobilien AG since 2000, and of AG für die Neue Zürcher Zeitung, a major media group in Switzerland, since 2010.  In 2015 she also became a board member of Fielmann AG, Europe's largest optician. Mrs Müller-Möhl is highly committed to addressing socio-political causes and as a result has established the Müller-Möhl Foundation, which focuses on the compatibility of work and family life, education, promotion of a free market in Switzerland and philanthropy in general.  She also sits on various foundation and advisory boards that support the above causes, including those at the University of Zurich’s Department of Economics and the University of St. Gallen, the MBA for Women Foundation, EDGE, Avenir Suisse, the Swiss Economic Forum, Schweizerische Management Gesellschaft and Bertelsmann Stiftung, Germany.  In recognition of her success and her philanthropic commitment, the World Economic Forum nominated Mrs Müller-Möhl as a Young Global Leader in 2007. She studied politics, history and law, and graduated with an MA in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin.

Jürgen Fischer Member

Jürgen Fischer is founder of Dubai-based Pearl Management Consultants and was previously CEO of Dubai Properties LLC, a major real estate developer in the UAE which managed 20,000 residential leasing units, 50,000 sqm of retail space, thousands of “Built to Sell” apartments and villas and several master developments in Dubai.  He was also involved in the Sama Dubai Group’s international developments in Morocco, Oman and elsewhere.  During his time with Dubai Properties, Mr Fischer oversaw several theme park and tourist projects.  Between 1995 and 2008 he held several senior positions with Hilton International, including President for Commercial Operations and President for Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as President of Scandic Hotels AB.  Mr Fischer has been a non-executive board member of Movenpick Hotels & Resorts since 2008, and non-executive Chairman since 2014.  Prior to joining Hilton International he held the roles of Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Director of Resort Development for Disneyland Paris, and General Manager of the Grand Floridian Beach Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World in Florida. Mr Fischer held several hotel management positions in Europe and the Middle East after starting his professional life as a chef in 1970: he later graduated from the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, Switzerland and was awarded an MBA with Honors from IMEDE/IMD, Lausanne in 1988.

Jürg Weber Member

Before his present position as Divisional Chief Executive Officer of SIX Payment Services and Chairman of the Board of TWINT, Jurg Weber was CEO and partial owner of Boyner Financial Services in Istanbul and an entrepreneur in the field of card issuing, purchase finance and payment services. He was previously a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he served Swiss banking clients and later co-led the founding of the Istanbul office, leading to his nomination as a Partner. Prior to this Mr Weber served as project assistant to the Vice-Chairman of UBS Phillips & Drew in London, and as Project Manager for the CEO of UBS North America in New York, where he was elected into the UBS Leadership Program with a sponsorship for an MBA.  Mr Weber holds an MBA with a Major in Finance and Strategic Planning from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.  He previously studied Civil Engineering at the School of Engineering in Switzerland, and Microeconomics and English at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Eskandar Tooma Member

Eskandar Tooma (Egyptian citizen, resident in Egypt, born in 1977) is a tenured professor of finance with the School of Business at the American University in Cairo. He has also held a visiting professorship position with the Imperial College's Business School in London, England. Mr. Tooma was a Senior Advisor to the Egyptian Capital Market Authority (2005-2007), as well as a member of a variety of committees including the EGX30 Index Committee (2006), the Market Advancement Committee at the Egyptian Stock Exchange (2006), and a member of the Derivatives and Commodities Exchange Committee with the Ministry of Investments (2007) and a consultant to the Ministry of International Cooperation in order to document Egypt's Debt Swap Experience (2004).  Mr. Tooma sat on the boards (as a non-executive member) of several EGX/LSE listed companies, including Telecom Egypt (2015-2017), Vodafone Egypt (2015-2019), Egyptian Resorts Company (2009-2019), Madinat Nasr for Housing and Development (2013-present) and the oversight board of the HSBC Egypt's money market fund (2015-present). Mr. Tooma was already a member of the Board of Directors of the Company from 2013 until 2016 and served as Chief Financial Officer of the Company on an ad interim basis from 2013 until 2016. Eskandar Tooma obtained his bachelor's degree in business from the American University in Cairo and Adelphi University. He holds two master's degrees, the first in finance and the second in international economics from Adelphi and Brandeis Universities, respectively. He also holds a PhD in finance from Brandeis University.

Omar Tazi-Riffi Member

Amine Omar Tazi-Riffi (Swiss citizen, resident in Switzerland, born in 1970) is a former Senior Partner of McKinsey, based in the Geneva and Zurich offices. He is now an independent advisor, PE investor and board member. During his nearly 25-year career at McKinsey, Amine Omar Tazi-Riffi served leading institutions and governments, both in Switzerland and in emerging economies (mainly in the Middle East, Africa and Central & Eastern Europe). He is the founder of McKinsey's North & West Africa practice and then co-led the expansion on the continent. He also served as co-leader of the Global Energy & Mining, Infrastructure & Logistics, Telecom & High Tech practices of McKinsey as well as regional leader for the Public & Social Sector practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has extensive experience in the Travel & Hospitality sector both as a consultant and in the PE space. Mr. Tazi-Riffi is now a senior advisor with GlobalSouth Partners, Advisory & Investments in Dubai and collabo-rates with PE platforms in the Middle East & Africa. He is the founder and Executive Chairman of Rolling Laser Solutions, Switzerland (2019-present). He also serves on the board of directors of Lonrho, UK/South Africa (2020-present) and Togo Telecom (2021-present) as well as on the Advisory Board of FTI Finanzholding, Germany (2021-present). Mr. Tazi-Riffi holds a BSc. and MSc. from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Electrical Engi-neering & Telecommunications; an MSc. from MIT in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science; and an MBA from INSEAD.

Barbara Heller Member

Barbara Heller (Swiss citizen, resident in Switzerland, born in 1967) is Co-founder and Managing Director at SWIPRA Services since 2013. SWIPRA advises companies and their boards of directors in the areas of corporate governance, CSR and corporate communication and disclosure. Ms. Heller is also a member of the board of directors of Graubünder Kantonalbank, Switzerland, and member of its Strategy Committee, member of the Investment Committee of Transparenta Investment Foundation, Switzerland, Of Counsel at Lemongrass Communications, Switzerland, and Vice-Chairwoman of the Swiss CFO Forum, and chairing the jury of the Swiss CFO Award. Until 31 March 2021, she was a member of the board of directors of Bank Cler, Switzerland, Chairwoman of the bank's Audit Committee and member of its Risk Committee. Ms. Heller was holding senior positions as a Managing Director at Bank Leu/Credit Suisse, Switzerland, between 1991 and 1997, leading the bank's corporate finance & capital markets department, and at Bank Vontobel, Switzerland, between 1997 and 2005 in corporate finance, private equity and capital markets, responsible for various international transactions. Between 2005 and 2012, she was Chief Financial Officer & Chief Risk Officer at Santhera Pharmaceuticals, a Swiss biopharmaceutical company. Between 2013 and 2015, Ms. Heller was also a member of the board of directors and a member of the Audit Committee and Investment Committee of the Visana Group, Switzerland. Barbara Heller received a master's degree in economics and business administration, with an emphasis on financial economics, empirical research and banking & insurance from the University of Zurich.

Omar El Hamamsy Chief Executive Officer

El Hamamsy joins ODH from McKinsey & Company where he is a Senior Partner in the Middle East office and was previously in the Belgium office.  In his 18 years at McKinsey, he led many practices including Travel and Transport.  In his client work, his main focus was leading comprehensive transformations of multi-national companies in the Middle East and Europe. He also worked on a number of cross-border acquisitions and integrations for these companies.  His clients at McKinsey spanned many sectors and he supported them on topics ranging from strategy, organization, sales and marketing, operations, and finance. Prior to joining McKinsey, El Hamamsy worked for six years at AT&T’s Bell Labs in the US where he was managing a global engineering team for wireless product development.  He holds a master’s degree from Stanford University. El Hamamsy also sits on the regional Board of Directors of “Injaz Al-Arab” (a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide), a non-profit organization focused on youth education where he leads the Board’s Operations Committee.

Ashraf Nessim Chief Financial Officer

Ashraf Nessim has more than 20 years’ experience in various fields including finance, infrastructure and hospitality.  He is the Chief Financial Officer of Orascom Development Holding and Orascom Development Egypt (ODE), the largest Egyptian subsidiary of the group.  Prior to joining OHD he was the Chief Financial Officer representing Beltone Private Equity in their Pickalbatros investment.   Between 2007 and 2010, Mr Nessim was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Mobiserve, a key player in mobile telecommunications network infrastructure in 9 countries within the Middle East and South Asia.  Before moving into the world of finance he established Raya Distribution in Algeria, in addition to managing all merchandising activities in Nokia and Samsung’s 34 outlets throughout Egypt.  Mr Nessim holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and was one of the first Egyptians to attain CFA designation in 2004.

Tarek Gadallah Group General Counsel

Tarek Gadallah has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring and debt and equity capital markets transactions. His experience also includes project financing and PPP projects covering all stages of the process from inception to commercial operations.  Prior to joining the group, Mr Gadallah spent eight years in private practice as a senior partner with a top-tier law firm in Egypt, where he advised local and international clients on high value, complex and cross-border transactions across a wide range of industries including financial services, real estate, tourism, energy, and pharmaceuticals. He also advised public companies on regulatory, compliance and corporate governance issues. In conjunction with his corporate practice, Mr Gadallah has handled a number of high value and complex international commercial arbitrations, and represented financial institutions and investors in several securities and capital markets litigations. Prior to establishing his private practice Mr Gadallah worked as Group General Counsel of a regional investment bank, where he handled a variety of debt and equity transactions in Egypt and the GCC region.  He has a Masters degree in Law from Cairo University and Executive Education in Accounting and Finance from Wharton Business School and Cambridge Judge Business School.

Tarek Kamel CEO of O West

Tarek brings more than two decades of commercial experience.  He started his career with HSBC where he did almost 4 years of marketing.  He then moved to Nestle where he spent more than 16 years moving between different positions including marketing, sales, and business management prior to occupying the position of Corporate Sales Director for the North East Africa region.  Tarek joined ODH in January 2019 as El Gouna CEO where he successfully integrated the destination’s three business segments, driving and implementing the Group’s destination-based direction. He led the destination’s real estate growth, enabled the destination’s business units to operate with higher autonomy which reflected in considerable improvement in the town operations and commercial results. Tarek earned a bachelor’s degree from Cairo University with a major in economics and a minor in political science in 1997. He obtained a Master's degree in business administration with a marketing focus from Maastricht School of Management.
