Samih Sawiris Chairman

Samih Sawiris became CEO of Orascom Development Holding on an interim basis in April 2014, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In 1996 he established Orascom Projects for Touristic Development and a year later founded Orascom Hotel Holdings. The two companies eventually merged to form Orascom Development Egypt S.A.E.  Mr. Sawiris founded the El Gouna Beverages Company in 1997, which was the largest beverage company in Egypt when sold in 2001. He started his first company, the National Marine Boat Factory, after receiving a Diploma in Economic Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 1980.

Naguib S. Sawiris Vice Chairman

Naguib S. Sawiris founded Yup in 2014 and has been its CEO since. Yup is a San Francisco-based Education Technology company that provides on-demand personalized learning through mobile chat, with over 500,000 student sign-ups. Yup has raised USD 7.5 million from leading tech and education investors including Index Ventures, Floodgate Fund and Stanford University's StartX Fund. Mr. Sawiris is an active angel investor, who invested in more than twenty companies including DoctorOnDemand, Transcriptic and Womply. His investments have gone on to raise over USD 200 million in subsequent rounds. He studied at Stanford University, where he designed his own major (Economic and Enterprise Engineering).

Franz Egle Member

Mr. Franz Egle’s background lies in strategic development, public affairs, corporate communications, media and PR. After holding senior positions in the private sector, he became head of communications at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1998. Between 1999 and 2006, Mr. Egle was a partner of Hirzel.Neef.Schmid.Konsulenten, a communication and financial consultancy company. He is the co-founder and a member of the board of directors of Dynamics Group, a Swiss company providing strategic consulting, communication management and research analysis since 2006. Mr. Egle is also a member of the board of directors of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG (since 2007). He holds a doctorate in sociology from the University of Zurich.

Eskandar Tooma Member

Eskandar Tooma is a tenured professor of finance with the School of Business at the American University in Cairo. He also held a visiting professorship position with the Imperial College's Business School in London, England. Mr. Tooma was a Senior Advisor to the Egyptian Capital Market Authority (2005-2007), as well as a member of a variety of committees including the EGX30 Index Committee (2006), the Market Advancement Committee at the Egyptian Stock Exchange (2006),  a member of the Derivatives and Commodities Exchange Committee with the Ministry of Investments (2007) and a consultant to the Ministry of International Cooperation in order to document Egypt's Debt Swap Experience (2004).  Mr. Tooma sat on the boards (as a non-executive member) of several EGX/LSE listed companies, including Telecom Egypt (2015-2017), Vodafone Egypt (2015-2019), Egyptian Resorts Company (2009-2019), Madinat Nasr for Housing and Development (2013-present) and the oversight board of the HSBC Egypt's money market fund (2015-present). He was already a member of the Board of Directors of the Company from 2013 until 2016 and served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Company on an ad-interim basis from 2013 until 2016. Eskandar Tooma obtained his bachelor's degree in business from the American University in Cairo and Adelphi University. He holds two master's degrees, the first in finance and the second in international economics from Adelphi and Brandeis Universities, respectively. He also holds a PhD in finance from Brandeis University.

Carolina Müller-Möhl Member

Ms. Carolina Müller-Möhl is founder and president of the Müller-Möhl Group, a single-family office. She has served as a board member of Nestlé and currently sits on different boards, i.e. Neue Zürcher Zeitung (a swiss media group) and Fielmann (Europe’s largest optician). Carolina Müller-Möhl is highly committed to address socio-political causes and brings her efforts under the Müller-Möhl Foundation that she founded in 2012. The focus of the foundation is on education, compatibility of work and family life, promotion of a free market in Switzerland and philantropy in general. Currently, the Müller-Möhl Foundation supports more than 30 projects. Furthermore, she sits on several foundation boards, i.e. Bertelsmann Foundation. In 2007, she was nominated for the Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Carolina received an Erasmus scholarship at LSE (London School of Economics) and holds a Master Degree in Politics (Hons) from Freie Universität Berlin. She attended executive Education Programs at Harvard Kennedy School, Singularity University and Europa Institute Basel.

Jürgen Fischer Member

Mr. Jürgen Fischer provides senior management and leadership support for the hospitality, travel, leisure and real estate industries. Since the end of 2020, he has been acting as an advisor to the management of FTI/Meeting Point, a German tour operator. Previously, Mr. Fischer was the founder and the managing director of The Pearl Management Consultants, Dubai (2014 to 2019), he served as a non-executive director on the board of Azizi Developments and was the non-executive chairman of Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts (2008 to 2018). From 2008 to 2014, Mr. Fischer worked for several subsidiaries of Dubai Holding, including CEO of Dubai Properties LLC. He held several senior positions with Hilton International Hotels, including president of commercial operation, president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and president of Scandic Hotels AB. He also had senior management roles in Florida and Paris (from 1989 to 1995) at the Walt Disney Company. Mr. Fischer started his professional life as a chef. He later graduated from the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland and obtained an MBA with honors from IMD/IMEDE.

Jürg Weber Member

Before his present position as Divisional Chief Executive Officer of SIX Payment Services and Chairman of the Board of TWINT, Jurg Weber was CEO and partial owner of Boyner Financial Services in Istanbul and an entrepreneur in the field of card issuing, purchase finance and payment services. He was previously a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he served Swiss banking clients and later co-led the founding of the Istanbul office, leading to his nomination as a Partner. Prior to this, Mr. Weber served as project assistant to the Vice-Chairman of UBS Phillips & Drew in London, and as Project Manager for the CEO of UBS North America in New York, where he was elected into the UBS Leadership Program with a sponsorship for an MBA.  Mr. Weber holds an MBA with a Major in Finance and Strategic Planning from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.  He previously studied Civil Engineering at the School of Engineering in Switzerland, and Microeconomics and English at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Omar Tazi-Riffi Member

Amine Omar Tazi-Riffi  is a former Senior Partner of McKinsey, based in the Geneva and Zurich offices. During his nearly twenty-five-year career at McKinsey, Amine Omar Tazi-Riffi served leading institutions and governments, both in Switzerland and in emerging economies (mainly in the Middle East, Africa and Central & Eastern Europe). He is the founder of the North & West Africa practice and co-led its expansion on the continent. He also served as co-leader of the Global Energy & Mining, Infrastructure & Logistics, Telecom & High-Tech practices as well as the regional leader for the Public & Social Sector practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has extensive experience in the Travel & Hospitality sector both as a consultant and in the PE space. Mr. Tazi-Riffi is now a senior advisor with GlobalSouth Partners, Advisory & Investments in Dubai and collaborates with PE platforms in the Middle East & Africa. He is the founder and Executive Chairman of Rolling Laser Solutions, Switzerland (2019-present). He also serves on the Board of Directors of Lonrho, UK/South Africa (2020-present), Togo Telecom (2021-present) and on the Advisory Board of FTI Finanzholding, Germany (2021-present). Mr. Tazi-Riffi holds a BSc. and MSc. in Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL); an MSc. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from MIT; and an MBA from INSEAD.

Barbara Heller Member

Barbara Heller has been Co-founder and Managing Director at SWIPRA Services since 2013. SWIPRA advises companies and their boards of directors in the areas of corporate governance, CSR, corporate communication and disclosure.  Ms. Heller is a member of the Graubünder Kantonalbank’s board of directors and Strategy Committee and of the Transparenta Foundation’s Investment Committee. She is also the of Counsel at Lemongrass Communications, the Vice-Chairwoman of the Swiss CFO Forum and the chairing jury of the Swiss CFO Award. Until March 31, 2021, she was a member of the board of directors of Bank Cler, Switzerland, the Chairwoman of the bank's audit Committee and a member of its risk Committee. Ms. Heller was holding senior positions as a Managing Director at Bank Leu/Credit Suisse, Switzerland, between 1991 and 1997, leading the bank's corporate finance & capital markets department, and at Bank Vontobel, Switzerland, between 1997 and 2005 in corporate finance, private equity and capital markets, responsible for various international transactions. Between 2005 and 2012, she was Chief Financial Officer & Chief Risk Officer at Santhera Pharmaceuticals, a Swiss biopharmaceutical company. Between 2013 and 2015, Ms. Heller was also a member of the board of directors and a member of the Audit Committee and Investment Committee of the Visana Group, Switzerland. Barbara Heller received a master's degree in economics and business administration, with an emphasis on financial economics, empirical research and banking & insurance from the University of Zurich.

Omar El Hamamsy leads Orascom Development Holding’s organization (ODH) across seven countries and nine destinations. Since he became the Group CEO of ODH in 2020, El Hamamsy has led a strategic and cultural transformation to build a preeminent developer of a real estate and tourism institution powered by a committed and enthusiastic team and visionary projects.

Before joining ODH, El Hamamsy was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Co, with twenty-five years experience in multinational line roles and management consulting, sales & marketing and active start-up investing across many continents.

El Hamamsy is a member of the regional Board of Directors of “Injaz Al-Arab” and a member of Junior Achievements Worldwide, a non-profit organization focused on youth education.

El Hamamsy holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He is an avid pilot in his free time.

Ashraf Nessim leads and manages the financial actions and strategies across ODH destinations.

Ashraf Nessim leads and manages the financial actions and strategies across ODH destinations. Nessim has held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Orascom Development Holding (ODH) since 2017 and of Orascom Development Egypt (ODE), the largest Egyptian subsidiary of the Group, since 2012. 

Nessim has more than twenty-five years of experience in various industries and business areas including finance, infrastructure, and hospitality.

Prior to joining ODH, Nessim was the Chief Financial Officer in various well-known and established companies like Beltone Private Equity or Mobiserve, a key player in the mobile telecom network infrastructure in nine countries within the Middle East and South Asia. Prior to shifting his career to finance, he established the operation of Raya Distribution in Algeria and managed merchandising activities in all thirty-four shops of Nokia and Samsung in Egypt from 2004 until 2006. 

Nessim holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and he is also one of the earlier people in Egypt having achieved the CFA designation in 2004.

MARION QUIDOR Group Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer

As Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, Marion Quidor oversees the development of ODH strategic agenda at group level and leads the Commercial Center of Excellence that drives commercial and marketing best practices across destinations.

As Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, Marion Quidor oversees the development of ODH's strategic agenda at group level and leads the Commercial Center of Excellence that drives commercial and marketing best practices across destinations. 

Marion joined ODH after a six-year experience in the hospitality industry at the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), where she was successively Vice President Global Strategy, Chief of Staff to IHG Group CEO and, last, Vice President in charge of the Luxury Loyalty program and Alliances. 

Prior to her experience at IHG, Marion was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Co, where she served global clients on multiple Strategy and Commercial projects across the world.

Marion started her career in the Consumer Goods sector at Kraft Foods France (now known as Mondelez), where she held successive Brand leadership positions within Kraft’s Coffee Marketing organization between 2000 and 2006.  

Marion is French and a graduate from Sciences Po, where she also earned a Master Degree in Marketing Research and Strategy.

As Orascom Development Holding’s Chief Business Development Officer, Ahmed leads and advances large-scale business development opportunities including investments, M&A, joint ventures, divestitures, partnerships and strategic alliances. Ahmed’s coverage includes all of ODH’s destinations across seven countries.

Before joining ODH, Ahmed was the Co-founder and Managing Partner of HC Equity Partners. Ahmed previously worked in private equity with Lone Star Funds and Silverpeak Partners in Chicago and New York, respectively. Prior to that, he was an investment banker at the Deutsche Bank in New York covering companies in the real estate, gaming, lodging and leisure sectors. Ahmed’s coverage also included both traded and non-traded equity and mortgage REITs across various real estate asset classes (i.e. office, retail, multifamily, industrial, hospitality, data storage, et cetera). Ahmed began his career with Deutsche Bank in New York working on greenfield investments in the energy and infrastructure sectors where he invested in the construction of multiple midstream assets for MLPs.

Ahmed earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce and an MBA with Distinction from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

As Chief Human Resources Officer, Wessam leads the HR function across the group.

As Chief Human Resources Officer, Wessam leads the HR function across the group. She develops and executes the human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of ODH while focusing on performance management, learning and development, succession planning, talent management and change management. Diversity and people's engagement come on top of Wessam’s agenda as well. 

Wessam comes to Orascom Development Holding with more than twenty-five years of experience. Most recently, she served as Group Chief Shared Services Officer at Beyout Investment Group, a Kuwaiti conglomerate with a diversified business portfolio across the Middle East. Prior to that, Wessam worked as Group Chief Shared Services Officer at Giza Systems, the leading regional systems integrator. Her career also includes consulting and program management roles at PwC, where she led several programs supporting the business across the Middle East region.

Wessam holds a Master of Arts degree in Leading Innovation and Change from York St. John University.

Dr. Shabana leads the group digital transformation strategy and implementation across ODH destinations

Dr. Shabana leads the group digital transformation strategy and implementation across Orascom Development Holding (ODH) destinations and hotels since his appointment as Chief Digital Officer of ODH in 2021.

He started his career at IBM before pursuing his doctoral studies. He later taught at Texas A&M University for 7 years before joining the Advisory practice at Ernst and Young LLP in 2000. He joined the Partnership in 2004 and served clients in the financial services and Telecommunications sectors in the US and Switzerland. In the Middle East, he served Commercial and Governmental clients. He joined IBM Middle East in 2015 as a Smarter Government leader for Saudi Arabia and was involved in several of the Kingdom’s large digital transformation initiatives. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

Shabana holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) and an MBA from the American University in Cairo.

Frank Konings Group Chief Technical Officer, Orascom Development Holding

Frank leads the Technical Center of Excellence to ensure best practices are implemented across ODH’s destinations.

Frank leads the Technical Center of Excellence to ensure that best practices be implemented across ODH’s destinations. Since he became the Group Chief Technical Officer (CTO) in 2021, Frank has led a strategy to reduce the engineering, construction and procurement costs of the group. Frank joined Orascom Development in 2018 as Chief Technical Officer for Eco Bos Development. He brought over thirty years of experience in the development and management of large-scale building & infrastructure projects.

Before joining ODH, Frank worked in Dubai for six years with Dubai Properties Group as Chief Officer Project Execution, with Damac properties as Sr. VP Projects and for Nakheel as Development Director of the Waterfront City project. From 2009 till 2014, Frank led the technical division of SODIC, overseeing the development, design, procurement and delivery of a diversified project portfolio.

He held the position of CEO for KLIA Strategic Planning in Malaysia where he was in charge of delivering major infrastructure projects in Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong. 

Frank holds a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Applied Sciences, Amsterdam.

Tarek Gadallah leads and develops the corporate legal strategy across Orascom Development Holding (ODH) destinations. Gadallah has been serving as the General Counsel of ODH since 2017. His extensive experience in project financing, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring debts and equity capital markets transactions allows him to oversee ODH’s dynamic growth and market development all over the world.

Before joining ODH, Gadallah was a senior partner with a top-tier law firm in Egypt, where he advised local and international clients on high value, complex, and cross-border transactions across a wide range of industries, including financial services, real estate, tourism, energy and pharmaceuticals. He also advised public companies on regulatory, compliance and corporate governance issues. 

Prior to his private practice, Tarek Gadallah worked as the Group General Counsel of Naeem Holding investment bank from 2006 until 2009. 

Gadallah received his Master of Law from Cairo University and then followed an executive education in accounting and finance from Wharton Business School and Cambridge Judge Business School.

Tarek Kamel Chief Executive Officer, O West and member of the executive management

Tarek Kamel leads O West’s overall strategic direction.

Tarek Kamel has led O West’s overall strategic direction, business operations and plans since April 2021 by providing leadership and expertise to guide O West's development through the next phase of growth.

Kamel was the CEO of El Gouna since 2019, where he successfully integrated the destination’s three business segments. He led the destination’s real estate growth and enabled the destination’s business units to operate with higher autonomy which resulted in considerable improvement in the town operations and commercial results. 

Before joining Orascom Development, 

Kamel was the Corporate Sales Director for the North East Africa region at Nestle for more than sixteen years during which he moved between different positions including marketing, sales and business management.

Kamel obtained a bachelor’s degree from Cairo University with a major in economics and a minor in political science in 1997. He holds a Master's degree in business administration with a marketing focus from Maastricht School of Management.

Maher Maksoud Regional Chief Executive Officer, Lustica Bay and Eco-Bos

Maher Maksoud leads Eco Bos and Lustica Bay destinations

Maher Maksoud leads Eco Bos and Lustica Bay destinations, subsidiaries of Orascom Development Holding. Since he became the CEO of Eco Bos in 2018, Maksoud has managed an efficient and highly qualified team combining international industry experience with local Cornwall knowledge — essential to the delivery of the Eco-Bos project pipeline.

Since his appointment as the CEO of Lustica Bay in 2020, Maksoud has led the destination and provided the leadership and expertise to guide Lustica Development through the next phase of growth. Maksoud also served as the Vice President of ODH for three years.

Before joining Orascom Development Holding, Maksoud was the Vice Chairman and CEO of SODIC, where he oversaw its transformation into one of Egypt’s most respected publicly listed real estate companies. 

Maksoud has also had successful entrepreneurial experiences as he developed and subsequently sold a number of medium-sized businesses in the food retail, production and restaurant sectors. 

Maksoud holds a B.A. in economics from the American University in Cairo and an M.Sc. (Econ) from the London School of Economics.

Raphael Krucker Chief Executive Officer, Andermatt Swiss Alps AG

Raphael Krucker leads Andermatt Swiss Alps

Raphael Krucker leads Andermatt Swiss Alps. He is a well-rounded experienced leader with strategic and operational skills. He has extensive experience in management and leadership roles, entering and expanding new markets, developing diverse teams and launching products and services through multiple channels. Raphael has more than twenty years of international experience and a strong track record in creating lasting impact.

Prior to joining the Andermatt Swiss Alps Group, he was in charge of the Australia-based Oceania region for Bühler Group as its managing director. Starting from 1995, Krucker worked for the Bühler Group in various positions and countries around the world. He began his career as the project manager responsible for the planning and execution of major projects, mainly in Asia and Europe. This was followed by positions as area sales manager, head of customer service and business development manager. In 2014 and 2015, he was also the managing director responsible for the sales and service organizations in Pakistan and Nigeria. 

Krucker studied mechanical engineering in St. Gallen and continued his executive-manager training at the IMD Business School in Lausanne. He also completed the Management Advancement Program at WITS Business School in South Africa.

Ossama Aboualam has been leading Muriya’s strategic direction and plans since April 2021 and ensured complete alignment of its growth in becoming the leading touristic and real estate developer in Oman.

Aboualam brings more than eighteen years of working experience in the real estate and IT industries. He joined Orascom Development Egypt in 2015 as the Chief Development Officer, worked across the Egyptian destinations, and took care of the real estate business from conceptualization to delivery. Aboualam played a pivotal role in the inception of O West, Orascom Development’s first home project in West Cairo, as he was promoted to O West’s Chief Operating Officer and thus led its development as well as the commercial and technical functions.

Prior to joining Orascom Development, Ossama was SODIC’s Director of Development. He also gained international exposure and corporate experience throughout his career by being part of renowned multinational companies such as LINKdotNET and Oracle.

Ossama holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cairo university.

Tamer Dewidar Chief Executive Officer, Makadi Heights and Byoum

Tamer Dewidar leads Makadi Heights and Byoum’s overall strategy and transformation plan from concept.

Tamer Dewidar leads Makadi Heights and Byoum's overall strategy and transformation plan and thus manages the concept, marketing, sales, on-time delivery schedule, customer satisfaction, town management and profitability. 

Since he became the CEO of Makadi Heights in 2020, Dewidar has led Makadi Height’s real estate growth which had a remarkable contribution to Orascom Development’s strategy and improved profitability of the group.

Dewidar joined Orascom Development Egypt (ODE) in 2015 as its Head of Sales. With the sales team, he managed to take the company’s real estate sales from EGP 420.0 million in 2015 to EGP 3.0 billion in 2018. In 2019, he successfully established and directed the sales force for O West.

Before joining Orascom development, Dewidar was the co-founder and managing director at Aspire Estates. He previously held the positions of Senior Sales Manager in SODIC and Head of Corporate Sales at Emaar Misr. Dewidar spent three years of his career with Coldwell Banker between Egypt and UAE.

Dewidar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Sadat Academy in collaboration with New Brunswick University Canada. Moreover, he acquired a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in International Business Administration in 2004.

Joachim Schmitt leads the executive management of Orascom Hotels Management (OHM), a subsidiary of Orascom Development Group, with 33 hotels across six destinations in seven countries. Joachim joined Orascom in 2012 as VP Operations and was promoted to CEO of Orascom Hotels Management in 2018. Joachim has since led the implementation of Board strategy and policies across the group’s hotels. 

He looks back on a career spanning thirty five years in hospitality. Before joining Orascom Hotels Management, Joachim worked in Germany, Australia, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, China and Egypt with international hotel companies such as Kempinski, Intercontinental, Oberoi, Four Seasons and Maritim.

Joachim holds a diploma from Munich college of hotel management and completed a certificate course in Hotel Real Estate and Asset Management with Cornell University.

Ashraf Al Agamawy leads RAK Tourism Investment, a subsidiary of Orascom Development, the company that developed and owns The Cove Rotana Resort & Spa in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Al Agamawy joined Orascom in March 2006 to take charge of the Cove project and was subsequently appointed as Managing Director of RAK Tourism Investment upon completion of the project construction.

Prior to joining Orascom, Al Agamawy accumulated over thirty-four years of experience in several developments and projects and has worked with consultancies and developers in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, in the fields of town planning, design and construction management, whether it was in the governmental or the private sector.

Al Agamawy holds a B.S degree in Civil Engineering from Zaqaziq University, Egypt.

Osama Abaza leads Taba Heights as a Managing Director Since 2019.

Osama Abaza has been leading Taba Heights as the Managing Director since 2019. Abaza is a highly experienced hotel and resort management professional with extensive financial and operations management skills. Throughout his thirty-two years of experience, he has been recognized for his ability to increase the quality of the performance, profits and sales. In addition to his management skills, he possesses extensive experience in the Food and Beverage sector.

Before joining ODH, in 2019 Abaza worked for thirteen years as the General Manager of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. 

He maintained very successful results and business stability during his last five years in Movenpick El Gouna and gave the latter international exposure across the Middle East and Africa.

Abaza holds a bachelor’s from Helwan University, Egypt and also diplomas from Arizona International School of Business and Management, a hotel management Diploma from Cornell University and Executive Director Management from Arab Institute for Studies.
